I prefer living in ColourDavid Hockney

As a young girl you could find me up in the hills surrounding my home in Cornholme, Todmorden, West Yorkshire. This is where I jumped in streams, ran after sheep and made perfume out of blossom.

A love of nature has always been a part of me as has my passion for being creative with bright, bold colours. I live through colour, and this is reflected in my unique paintings.

I have a BA (hons) from the Northern School of Art and an MA in Art Education. These qualifications have allowed me to have a very successful teaching career in Art, Design and Photography.

I am very passionate about my subject and love being able to add colour to peoples lives.

I have been inspired by many artists for their power, colour and intellect; Frida Kahlo, David Hockney, Grayson Perry, Yayoi Kusama to name but a few.

“I used to think I was the strangest person in the world but then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do. I would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me, too.

Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it’s true I’m here, and I’m just as strange as you.” – Frida Kahlo
